Sonografie is ’n verkenning deur middel van klank en musiek om stories te vertel en dinge te bevraagteken. Vier kunstenaars vertel stories wat ontlok is deur instrumente, musicale idiome, en die werelde wat elk verklank: uhadi, Khoe-klanke, onbegeleide stemme en Mississippi-blues. Hulle vrae is ’n teken van hoop: Hoe luister ons opnuut, met nuanse en kompleksiteit, terwyl ons weier om klanke te reduseer tot die harmonieë van ’n globale kommoditeit? Hierdie samewerking tussen Peter Gabriel se musiekstigting, WOMAD, die Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees en die US Departement van Musiek is ’n eerste, en ’n mens durf dit nie misloop nie.

?Sonography is an exploration in sound and music of story-telling and questioning. In this production, artists tell stories prompted by instruments, musical idioms and the sound worlds each evoke: uhadi, Khoe sounds, acapella voice and Mississippi blues. Their questions gesture hope: how do we listen anew, with nuance and complexity, in a refusal to reduce sound to commodified global harmony?
