In this acclaimed production of Othello the focus is placed on Othello’s inner life and audiences are invited to reflect on the enduring legacies of colonisation. Lara Foot was awarded the Gustaf Theatre Award 2023 for Outstanding Artistic Achievement for the direction of Othello at Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. European critics raved about this production, calling it “a powerful, thrilling season opening in Dusseldorf” and congratulating Foot on bringing a powerful new perspective to one of Shakespeare’s plays. Othello recently completed a run at the Baxter Theatre playing to standing ovations. This is an unprecedented opportunity to see this acclaimed production of Shakespeare’s insistently complex play about human nature and frailty through an African perspective as it unfolds in Namibia at the height of colonialism.
