Ateljee-besoeke: Marinda du Toit

Dié inisiatief gee aan feesgangers toegang tot plaaslike kunstenaars se skeppende ruimte. Deelnemende kunstenaars is op vasgestelde tye in hulle ateljee beskikbaar, terwyl van hulle ook in ateljees op die Blaauwklippen-wynlandgoed gehuisves word. Klim op ’n feesbussie in Ryneveldstraat en besoek die onderstaande ateljees in en om Stellenbosch.

Marinda woon in ’n ateljee eerder as wat sy ’n ateljee in haar huis het. Sy werk met gevonde objekte en gevonde papier. Een vertrek is vol growwe, vuilerige objekte en gereedskap, en nog een vol papier­collages, en in die somer dien die stoep ook as ateljee. Haar werk bestaan uit karakters, beelde en poppe met ’n narratief waarin die kyker ’n aanknopingspunt sal vind met die geskiedenis en betekenis van die oorspronklike objekte.

This initiative gives festival-goers access to the creative spaces of local artists. At set times, participating artists are available in their studios. Some of the artists are also housed in studios on the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate. Consult the guide to book a studio visit with your favourite artists. Marinda lives in a studio rather than having a studio at home. She works with found objects and found paper. Her work consists of characters, statues and dolls with a narrative in which the viewer will find a connection to the history and meaning of the original objects. Her collages refer to forms and community and narrative characters, made from collected found paper.
