The SUN Quintet members all hail from the SU Department of Music. This dynamic, award-winning quintet recently released their debut album, Embrace the Path. They bring together a fusion of backgrounds and styles, resulting in music that brims with authenticity and passion.
The contemporary sounds of the Cape and the rich tradition of South African jazz are celebrated in this series of concerts. Join the Ramon Alexander Trio, the Katemba Quartet with Schalk Joubert, Muneeb Hermans, Blake Hellaby and Pascal Haas along with exciting new stars such as Melisizwe Plaatjie and the Sun Quintet. Members of the Maties Jazz Society will kick off the concerts. Afterwards take part in a jam session with the artists, so bring along your instrument and make music with us. Special access for students and music students.
