A prolific and gifted saxophonist, composer and band leader, 2020’s Standard Bank Young Artist winner Sisonke Xonti has traversed the jazz scene with eminent contemporaries and cultural giants such as Jimmy Dludlu, Feya Faku and Herbie Tsoaeli. The virtuoso reedman has mesmerised discerning audiences in Europe, Asia and the great African continent and his is seminal work from his albums titled ‘Iyonde’ (2017) and ‘uGaba the Migration’ have cemented his place in the annals of South African Jazz. His dedication to musical excellence has featured him as one of the most sought-after young players and leaders on the scene and thanks to his incredible work ethic and loving for exploring jazz boundaries, audiences can expect to be enthralled by his new and mellifluous repertoire, soon to be released.
