Friday Night Live is a series of beautiful, intimate performances from some of the most exciting talent Cape Town and South Africa has to offer, hosted at the KAYA Café. Friday Night Live is an event for performers to take in their own direction, creating an environment for audiences to engage deeply with the music, the meaning, and the people behind it all.

Hlombekazi is a 25-year-old multidisciplinary artist who specialises in singing and songwriting. Hlombe's love for music began at a very young age when she joined her primary school choir.

In January 2015 she joined the Rainbow Arts Organisation; partaking in performing arts which included music composition and theatre play.

Hlombekazi's genre can be described as African Soul and African Jazz. She strongly believes that music was something given to her by her ancestors as a way of communicating with her and the world as a whole.

Sanele Mswi will be opening the evening! Sanele is a performing poet and writer from East London who has travelled around the country extensively, mastering the art of the spoken word with a stylish and memorable cadence. Her poetry is delivered in English and native IsiXhosa, focusing on women empowerment narratives.
