ABOUT
The Rand Symphony Orchestra featuring soloist Braam van Tonder on Trumpet present a variety of classical and contemporary pieces, from Strauss Polka's to film music.
Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and a delicious picnic to enjoy in the sun while you delight in the Spring Picnic Concert presented by The Rand Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Carel Henn.

ABOUT THE SOLOIST
Braam van Tonder is a driven trumpeter specializing in performance, conducting and pedagogy. He obtained his Masters in Music from the University of the Freestate in 2014. His love and passion for conducting produced performances with the Kandelaar Reformed Church Choir and contract orchestras, Pretoria Symphony Orchestra and Affies school orchestras. His Affies Big band won the Pretoria Eisteddfod band category for the past consecutive 10 years as well as the AKV Eisteddfod categories since 2018.
He performed as soloist with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, Pretoria Symphony Orchestra, Freestate Youth Symphony Orchestra, University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestra, the Odeion Symphonia, and Bach Choir. Braam serves as a regular orchestra member to most of the professional orchestras in Gauteng. He was also a member of the South African National Youth Orchestras between 2007-2010.
His most recent endeavours includes Affies (current), TUT - Arts of jazz trumpet, WHPS, Waterkloof High School, AP Academy, AROS, as well as Grey College (Bloemfontein).
As a hobby Braam loves nature and recently started some research projects with drone technology.
