Join us for our African Folktales Festival at the Masque Theatre open to the public on Saturday, 14 September with a double bill from 2 - 4pm with 15 minutes interval. The shows are most suitable for children between the ages of 6 – 12 years but fun for the whole family.
We will be performing our shows Mantis and The Bee and The Magic Shell.
Mantis and the Bee is based on a folktale of the San people. It is a visual, musical and humorous exploration of /Xam mythology and the origin of life. Experience the haunting music, the real dance, the mysterious masks, and the Khoikhoi language. Join an action-adventure into a world before the earth was created. Discover the magic hidden inside the stories of the first people.
The Magic Shell the theatrical representations draw young children into a world where animals and humans are connected. Their imaginations become rooted in culture and nature. They are prepared to make the folktale their own. They become ready to tell this original story in their own words and in their mother tongue.
THINGS TO KNOW:
* You are welcome to take your food and drink into the theatre, but please be sure to return your glass to the bar afterwards.
* Strict admittance policy - no entry after the show start time. Latecomers will be admitted entry at intermission.
* Children are not permitted to sit on laps.
* No flash photography or videography is allowed.
* The Masque Theatre provides secure parking at our designated parking lot, conveniently located just 50 meters past the theatre. Please note that our parking lot closes 30 minutes after the end of the show.
* Outside food and drink are not permitted in the theatre; we kindly invite you to enjoy the refreshments available for purchase inside.
* Tickets purchased are not transferable or refundable.
