ABOUT

An enchanted Sunday of amahubo and indigenous music splendour with iJadu Le Afrika, as we celebrate 10 years of amahubo custodianship.

IJadu Le Afrika Centre for Arts and Heritage presents IJadu Le Afrika Amahubo In Concert, a musical explosion which takes place on 4 August 2024, at the Wushwini Pan African Centre for Arts, overlooking Inanda Dam, in Durban.

This is an exciting day of ukuhuba, a music celebration that allows audiences to traverse the ancient mode of amahubo and their eclectic modern-day interpretation and fusion with various genres by vibrant artists of the centre.

LINEUP

Amahubo In Concert will be led by the acclaimed IJadu Le Afrika ensemble, celebrating 10 years since inception. Together with the group’s mentor - award winning vocalist and songwriter, Mbuso Khoza - leading the festivities, the event promises to be a Sunday to remember!

The concert also features a colourful lineup of artists from the centre, who are equally indigenous music ambassadors and custodians, including:

  • Nomangungu (storyteller, poet, amahubo and world musician)
  • Anella Ngwenya (Nguni neosoul, amahubo and jazz musician)
  • Nandi Mzobe (Umbhaqanga musician)
