ABOUT
Theatrix is making Shakespeare swing!
The production is based on the Shakespeare play, “Much Ado About Nothing”, one of his comedies. It takes all the ups and downs of it. The music style chosen for this production is Swing music through which the story is told following the five acts of the play with linking texts taken from the original play. The music is bespoke arranged for the Theatrix Singers. The production is set in a typical speakeasy club from the 1920s – 30s with the stage set being an Art Deco bar counter, palm trees and bar tables. A small jazz band (piano, acoustic bass & jazz drums) will accompany. The costuming is in the style of the 20s and 30s, i.e. flapper dresses, evening gowns, pinstripe suits, two-tone shoes and Fedora hats.
The original painting from which the poster originated, will be auctioned after the last show on Sunday 15 September.
