Buskaid celebrates Rosemary Nalden's 80th!

Holy Trinity Catholic Church

ABOUT

The Programme

As always, it’s an eclectic mix of classical, light, and township beat, including, for the first time, South Africa’s very own Amapiano.

(Wiki will tell you if you don’t already know!)

Buskaid’s new leader, Tshidiso Boikanyo is our third solo violinist to play Ernest Bloch’s Nigun.

Bloch features in our opening work – the first movement of his passionate Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra and Piano, in which our guest soloist is the acclaimed South African pianist, Eugene Joubert.

The Buskaid Ensemble’s very own take on Franz Biber’s Battalia is bound to both surprise and amuse!

Other works include the hauntingly beautiful Andante by black American composer Florence Price,

George Gershwin’s Lullaby

and Bela Bartok’s exuberant Rumanian Folk Dances.

And once again we pay homage to the black composer, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, in a performance of the opening movement of his D major Symphony.

Car parking

We have organised a group of car guards to keep watch over your cars parked near Holy Trinity and in adjacent roads. We are assured by the Church that Saturday afternoons are very peaceful and the area is safe. Otherwise you may prefer to use Uber.

Cushions

Sitting on a pew is not to everyone’s taste, so we have hired 200 cushions for your comfort. We do suggest that you bring your own in case we run out!

Temperature

Rest assured you won’t be cold: we are on to it!

Interval refreshments

We are organising a ‘coffee truck’ from which you may purchase light refreshments in the interval.

Please do join us, bring friends and family and do forward this information to anyone you think may be interested.
