Teba Shumba & Friends L!ve

ABOUT

Born and bred in the township of Gugulethu near Cape Town and also known as Original Social Worker, The Shepherd, or simply Mr. Shumba. Teba is a reggae activist, versatile artist and theatre director now based in Cape Town. In 1995 Teba moved to Johannesburg for few years where he recorded with the Kwaito band Skeem. In 1996 they were awarded a SAMA (South African Music Awards) for Best Township Pop with their debut smash hit song Waar Was Jy?

Earlier this year, Teba collaborated with French/British guitarist and songwriter Yoann Minkoff on the song "Many millions" , joining forces to give a unique depth to the song. The minimal groove, played with acoustic instruments is inspired of reggae, folk and South African kwaito music. An uplifting track inviting one to dance. The clip of teh song was shot and edited by Felix Suffert, Multi award winning filmmaker from Germany, now based in Cape Town since 2010. Teba performs a live set at the iconic Cafe Bohemia in Orlando East, Soweto in what can only be described as Home Coming.
