Empowering Creativity & Celebrating 30yrs of women making an impact takes Center Stage at SHE FEST 2024

Johannesburg, South Africa:


Umbono Film Screenings – Featuring dialogues and screenings that highlight women in the film industry. 


There will be a screening of two films, one called Lobola “A Brides true price?” a film directed by Sihle Hlophe who is a multi-award-winning director/scriptwriter as well as multi degree earner and founder of Passion Seed Communications.


The 2nd film will be a short Film Written by Missy Ngamlana a queer black filmmaker from Khayelitsha who graduated from AFDA Cape Town in 2017 with a BA degree in Live Performance, and Directed by Sinomtha Nduna Film and Television Producer, Scriptwriter, Director and Production Manager. SAFTA 16 Award Winner for The Braai Show with Cassper. They both run Slate 2 Productions and will be part of the Q&A session that follows the films screenings.


Film Industry talks with GFC represented by Nthabeleng Phora a Film practitioner and entrepreneur, occupying Project Manager in Skills Training and Audience development at the Gauteng film Commission for over 16 years & NFVF represented by Onke Dumeko who is the Head of Department (HOD): Operations at the NFVF armed with more than 10 years’ experience in media, publishing and the public sector, Dumeko has cemented her valuable contribution made within diverse industries, as reflected in her uniquely eclectic experience.

 The topics will be focused on funding and initiatives that are aimed at developing women in the film industry.
