ABOUT

American Soprano Kirsten Blair (née Hutchinson) has graced the Lowveld stages several times over the last 15 years. This year she is flying over to adjudicate the Nelspruit Eisteddfod, and we thought it well that she also showcases her prodigious talent as a recitalist. In this recital she explores longing and wistful contemplation as expressed by women throughout the ages. To start of, Knoxville, Summer of 1915 is an incredible and extensive work by Samuel Barber set to the prose of James Agee which will wrap you up in its rich and textural sounds. From here Blair will wander on to contemporary composer Cecilia Livingston, a little bit of drama from the opera Carmen, and you might even be surprised by her ability to sing in Afrikaans! She will be accompanied by Janette Rottcher and Tobias Kruger.
