STANLEY SIBANDE


Stanley Sibande is a South Africa based, Zambian born singer songwriter. He

began his journey as a musician in his formative years when he would sing along

with his sister to music by popular boy bands such as Nsync, Westlife and The

Backstreet Boys. After finishing his studies in Zambia, he chose to leave his

home Country and come down to South Africa in February of 2019 with nothing

but his guitar and a dream to pursue music. His style is an amalgamation of the

somber soundscapes of Indie and rock coupled with the simplistic yet catchy

melodic compositions of modern pop and the various african rythms, melodies

and stories he was raised around with influences such as The Weeknd, Seal,

Oliver Mutukudzi, Ed Sheeran,W.I.T.C.H, P.K Chishala, Madosini, Novo Amor,

e.t.c.


JONNY BLUNDELL

Jonny Blundell is an Honours graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He grew up in the musical Blundell family, and was already performing on stage from the age of ten.

He has played guitar as a professional session musician for years in South Africa and has played in many bands, including Fat City, Roger Lucey Band, Andrew Tracey Steel Band, and Keep the Change. He has had four songs on the 5FM top 20 and has performed in opening line-ups for international acts such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Shawn Phillips.

As a music producer he has produced albums for many artists, including Robin Walsh, McCoy Mrubata, Gito Baloi, Red Earth and Rust, Native Young, Nick Turner, Vuyo Katsha, and Jenny Eaves. He has also produced live radio broadcasts on 5FM for many local and international acts including Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, Electric Light Orchestra, Beth Hart and Jackson Browne.

Musically he’s done everything from writing documentary soundtracks, to musical direction for many live shows, to performing at the Woodstock ’97 concert in the USA. He has facilitated numerous interactive drumming and percussion sessions with The Rhythm Workshop and written corporate songs for many companies including, Food Lovers Market, Engen, Shell, Rentokil Initial, Spur, Pick n Pay, Cadiz, and Total. He has managed the technical staging of various shows and events including, Good Food and Wine Show and the SA Cheese Festival and has also worked as a technical consultant for many events.


He currently works as a music producer and sound engineer in Cape Town and is still performing live with Masala, Fintry, Dax Butler, and the Nick Turner Trio.


NICK TURNER

Accomplished Singer/ Songwriter and guitarist Nick Turner was the founding member of

Sons of Trout in the late 90’s, and later, one half of Mikanic, with fellow Trout Mike Rennie.

Nick’s music effortlessly spans genres with influences ranging from Rock, Reggae, and

afro pop to ghoema, hip-hop and jazz. He writes in both English and Afrikaans, with songs

that are lyrically powerful, relevant, humorous and energetic. His music has a wide appeal,

with performances that feature virtuosic musicianship.

In 2004 Nick moved to New York City with his band Mikanic. During his stay in the Big

Apple he collaborated with a some of the best in the business, most notably Bakhiti

Kumalo and Tony Cedras (from Paul Simon fame), Zolani Mahola (Freshly Ground), and

Nathi Gcabashe (Hugh Masakhela Band). The band played and sold out many of New

York City's legendary venues including Lincoln Centre, CBGB's, Joe’s Pub, The Knitting

Factory and Symphony Space.

In 2009 Nick returned to Cape Town to embark on a solo career. Since his return he has

graced the stages of many of South Africa’s most prestigious festivals, most notably The

Cape Town international Jazz Fesival , Rocking the Daisies, KKnK (Klein Karoo

kunstefees) to name a few. At KKnK he has been involved in a number of award winning

shows. In 2010 he won the award for “Best debut production” alongside Karen Zoid and

Louis Mhlanga. In 2015 he was part of the show “Al le die Berge Nog so Blou” which

clinched the award for “Best music production” at the festival. The show also won the

prestigious Fiesta award for “Best music production” in the same year. In 2018, his

Afrikaans project, “Korreltie Kantel", was nominated for best Adult Contemporary Afrikaans

album at the South African Music Awards. In 2019, Nick was part of the cast in David

Kramer’s production “Platteland”. The show also received the Fiesta award for “Best Music

Production” in 2019. Nick has had the good fortune of working with a swathe of acclaimed

South African artists , apart from the above mentioned artists, the list includes includes,

Buddy Wells, Ramon Alexander , Jannie van Tonder, Kevin Gibson, Ronan Skillen and

Schalk Joubert et al.

Nick is also involved in a number of exciting new projects. In 2018 he joined the “Hanepoot

Brass Band” The group plays indigenous South African tunes, covering a wide range of

local jazz composers. During lockdown, with no gigs in the foreseeable future, Nick started

collaborating and composing material for his most recent musical endeavour , “The Misty

Cliffs” The group just released their self tittled debut album early this year.

Nick’s love of music extended to his involvement in a development project at Solms Delta

wine estate called Music Van De Caab (2010 - 2017), which focused on preserving the rich

heritage of the music of the Cape (Cape Jazz, Vastrap, ghoema) through facilitation, song

writing workshops and teaching. Nick’s other noteworthy teaching work include;

Connecticut School of Music (2006 - 2010), Rondebosch High School (2010- 2018) and

the German International School Cape Town (DSK), 2019 to present.
