Talk on Traditional Medicine Saturday the 24th of August
The 31st of August is African Traditional Medicine Day. For many of us this topic is shrouded in mystery, and with all the modern-day medicines, practitioners and institutions out there we are left wondering what role Traditional Medicine might play in society today. Of course, there are also many practical questions that come to mind:
- Which plants are sought after and what can they do for us.
- Does the science of today change how these plants are used in traditional medicine
- What legislation exists regarding the protection and use of these plants.
- How does this all impact on the environment, harvesters, natural healers and the communities and individuals who reply on Traditional Medicine to make a living, or to cure their ailments, physical and mental.
If these questions have piqued your interest, join us on Saturday the 24th of August when our speaker Cian McClelland of Druid’s Garden will help to unravel the mystery around Traditional Medicine and help us understand how we might benefit from the age-old knowledge of those who came before us.
This event will take place at The Sheds, Gemstones Road (off the R511), Doornrandje, Crocodile River Reserve. We will start at 9h30 and should be done by 11h30. The cost is R95.00 per adult and R45.00 per child.
