About the Artists

Hugo Veldsman

A multi-talented musician with a deep love for folk-rock and blues, Hugo Veldsman’s music is as emotive as it is technically impressive. A classical guitar graduate from Stellenbosch University, Hugo’s signature sound comes from his use of the Weissenborn lap-steel guitar, which brings a rare and unique quality to his performances. With festival appearances at STRAB, Up The Creek, and more, Hugo continues to capture the hearts of audiences with his raw, heartfelt performances.

Karel Bester

Known for his folk-punk sound with a uniquely South African twist, Karel Bester has quickly risen through the ranks of the local music scene. His baritone voice and poignant lyrics blend nostalgia with a fresh take on Afrikaans music. Karel’s live performances are brimming with energy and personality, drawing comparisons to legendary artists like Johnny Cash while maintaining his own distinct style. Catch Karel for a mix of boeremusiek, folk-punk, and even some bluesy influences that will leave you captivated.

Plumsong

Plumsong, the mother-daughter duo of Sharyn Seidel and Dara Beth, is known for their dynamic harmonies, genre-bending medleys, and engaging stage presence. Together, they bring a mix of pop classics, soul, and a touch of cabaret flair to their performances. Since forming in 2011, Plumsong has become a local favorite, delighting audiences with their tight vocal harmonies and joyful energy. Expect a performance that’s equal parts playful and powerful.
