Applause Theatre Company presents a 10 year celebration of Simemezelo Xulu's "ANTIDOTE: The Musical" returning to Johannesburg for the opening of its national tour. Featuring a 5 piece live band and challenging the notion of prisons serving their purpose of being correctional facilities to the state or rather becoming gangster havens for more crimes.
The legal drama turned musical starts its national tour at r The Wits theatre on Wednesday the 4th of September 2024 - Sunday the 8th of September and will continue its season from the 1st - 6th of October 2024 at The Lesedi stage, Joburg Theatre Complex.
Set to make its way through the country to Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The piece is not to be missed!
Set in a high security prison in South Africa, the piece creates a controversial debate while exploring the high amount of crime in and outside of South African prisons.
This untamable, loud and explosive piece of musical theatre pushes its audiences to engage critically and intellectually into the hearts of these convicts.
