ABOUT
Brass-ON is a German brass band.
The ensemble was founded in 2002 and consists of 15 musicians including the Conductor (7
trumpets, 5 trombones, 1 Cimbasso and 1 tuba). All members are professional and semiprofessional
musicians, aged 13 to 25 years and from local brass bands within an area 100 km
around Frankfurt, Germany. The repertoire of Brass-ON includes all stylistic genres from sacred music to swing and from
baroque to pop music. Also movie soundtracks are a part of the concerts of Brass-ON. This is
why the second CD recording “A night at the cinema” could be released in 2016 and the 3rd
CD could be released in 2021. The Name of this CD is ‘Kontrastprogramm’ (Contrast Program)
Albert Wanner, the conductor of Brass-ON, studied at the Academy of music of the Rhineland
in Cologne and at the Robert Schumann Academy of music in Düsseldorf. After his studies he
played with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Saarland Radio Symphony Orchestra and
14 years at the Philharmonic Orchestra South-Westphalia. As solist he played tuba concerts in
Australia, United States, Canada, Singapore, Bangkok, England, South Africa and France.
