This workshop is designed to empower homeschooling parents and those supporting children struggling with handwriting, offering expert guidance for pre-school through grade 3.

 

It will offer parents practical insights and strategies to foster their children’s pre-writing and handwriting skills. The balanced approach, informed by both clinical knowledge and real-world experience, ensures that parents will gain valuable tools to support their children's development while navigating the complexities of early education.

 

You will learn:

  • Age-appropriate goals for developing prewriting skills
  • Age-appropriate targets for teaching letter symbols
  • When and how to introduce print letters
  • Cursive script: why, when and how to introduce
  • Optimal learning pace for handwriting development
  • Effective sequence for teaching handwriting skills

Ananja de Lange:

An experienced Occupational Therapist with a rewarding career in paediatrics spanning over 25 years. Her deep understanding of child development is complemented by her practical experience with learning difficulties in schools and private practice, paired with her current role as principal of a preschool and primary school. This unique blend of clinical expertise and educational leadership provides her with a comprehensive perspective on the developmental milestones and academic demands placed on young children.

 

As a consultant to homeschooling parents, Ananja offers invaluable guidance on tailoring educational experiences to individual children’s needs, bridging the gap between home and school environments. Her personal journey as a mother of two daughters has instilled in her a profound empathy for the hopes and concerns of parents, enabling her to connect with audiences on a personal level.

 

Amanda Beukes:

Seasoned educator with a rich history in both mainstream and special needs education. Her career spans both primary and high school settings, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of child development and learning styles.

 

Currently, Amanda is a passionate homeschooling parent, nurturing the growth of her two children. Her hands-on experience has deepened her expertise in creating engaging and effective learning environments. As a leader within her homeschooling community, Amanda is dedicated to supporting other parents on their educational journeys.

 

Her collaboration with speech and occupational therapists has equipped her with invaluable insights into addressing diverse learning needs. Amanda is excited to share her knowledge and practical strategies to empower parents in fostering their children's pre-writing and handwriting skills.
