ABOUT

Celebrate our Culture and Cuisine with me at our Special Heritage Day Kintsugi experience on Tuesday 24 September! This centuries old art form is filled with many philosophical lessons and can be viewed as a metaphor for healing ourselves by embracing our own flaws and imperfections.

Traditional Kintsugi can take months to complete. In this introduction into the Japanese Art of Kintsugi workshop, I’ll share my contemporary methods to practice and apply on any ceramics that need to be mended to allow you to repair and restore into something unique and resilient rather than dispose of.

During the experience you will also enjoy a curated Authentic Asian meal consisting of our delish Dimsum - handmade, preservative and MSG free (dumplings, Springrolls and won ton) as well as our most popular noodle dish and a dessert! We are fully licensed and you can enjoy mimosas, artisan beers, SA wines, Chinese beers, sake and soju too!

Booking essential as space is limited. DM/WhatsApp me to secure your seat.

What to expect:

A morning of mindfulness at our Traditional Teahouse to learn the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi and to apply this to a ceramic of your own that needs to be repaired.

What to bring:

A ceramic of your own like a vase/pot plant holder/bowl etc that is either broken in half or with 2 - 4 pieces broken off. You can also bring a ceramic that isn’t broken and I’ll teach you how to break it! Please note the technique I will share uses gold leaf / gold powder that is not food grade safe.

If you don’t have a ceramic to use - you’re welcome to purchase a ceramic from our extensive collection!

What’s the cost:

Our Special Heritage Day Kintsugi experience includes the kintsugi workshop and mindfulness teachings to embrace your own imperfections, the philosophy of kintsugi and the practice on your own ceramic or one you can purchase from our collection. All materials to be used on the day are included with the lesson. A 3-course lunch with a talk on my heritage is also part of this not-to-be missed experience!

Please note the ceramic to be repaired is not included.
