Kloof Rus
ABOUT
Bring your friends & family for an evening of "Stargazing with Vic's Telescopes". You'll enjoy stargazing through a powerful telescope under the dark skies at Kloof Rus, just outside JHB (near Muldersdrift).
Vicus Cruywagen is a telescope maker and avid observer of the night sky. He will first give a brief talk about the universe and the objects you’ll be observing. Then you'll get a chance to observe a number of celestial objects through a powerful telescope.
On the menu this month:
> The Moon - observed through a telescope, it's unlike anything you've seen
> Venus
> Saturn - you'll even see its rings!
> Double Stars
> Star Clusters
* Our eyes have to get accustomed to the dark sky in order to spot the stars, so please refrain from using white lights/torches - you may use RED lights/torches.
* Dress warmly - it can still get quite cold at night, especially an hour-and-a-half in the open!
* Camping chairs will be useful to bring along. You can also bring picnic blankets & food.
Duration: 60 - 90minutes, depending on the number of attendees.
