ABOUT

Learn ancient tea practices and their inherent philosophies with Jessica as she takes you on a journey into the tea ceremony practice.

Through a beautiful ceremony, Jessica will share an introduction to tea, its brewing and tasting methods, and the principles of the tea ceremony, laying the foundations for deep exploration into the culture spirituality and philosophy of tea. During the ceremony, Jessica will purvey high-quality, hand-produced organic teas from Japan, China and Taiwan.

Tea was first consumed as a medicine over 5000 years ago. Buddhist and Zen monks were some of the first to use it as a beverage in their meditation practices because they could recognise its profound effects on body, mind and spirit. This birthed sages who used tea as the principal element for their spiritual development. Thus, the Tea Ceremony was born. Its principles are founded in the heart of Eastern Philosophies that focus on presence, harmony, simplicity, impermanence, and a true understanding of our place in the world.

As a Philosophy Major, Tea Sommelier & Tea Master-in-training, Jessica has travelled extensively across East & South-East Asia. She has studied with Tea Masters, Monks & Philosophers, bringing back various teachings & sharing them through tea ceremonies & workshops. Jessica has prepared over 75,000 cups of tea during her journey. Each cup has allowed her to curate an experience that fosters ancient tea philosophies as tools for self-development.
