ABOUT

Classic and modern, popular and contemporary, from Brazil and the World, as experimental as it is welcoming, the journey outlined by Lívia & Fred is subtle, unexpected, and inspired. Through a range of old and new songs (including their own original works), this award-winning guitar and voice duo enchants audiences wherever it goes. “Flesh of the Pear” is an explosive and profound show that unites the tradition of Brazilian song to contemporary sounds, visceral timbres to sophisticated harmonies, the infinite creativity of Fred’s guitars to Lívia’s virtuosic and expressive singing, in an intimate, powerful, and elegant duo performance.

Throughout their fifteen-year partnership, Lívia & Fred(Lívia Nestrovski and Fred Ferreira) recorded the album DUO (2012) and performed hundreds of concerts in over 20 countries of South and North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, as well as all regions of Brazil, in a variety of locations that extend from the Amazon to Lebanon, from literature festivals in medieval cities to indigenous villages in remote areas of the Brazilian hinterland, from the most iconic fashion event in Latin America to important European concert halls. Highlights include Brazil Summerfest (New York, USA), Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon, Portugal), Damascus Opera (Damascus, Syria), Palazzo Pamphilj (Rome, Italy), Mimo Festival (Amarante, Portugal), Mapas Mercado Cultural (Tenerife, Spain), Sala São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil), Casa da Música (Porto, Portugal), Jazzkaar Festival (Tallinn, Estonia), Seoul Music Week (Seoul, Korea), Cairo Opera (Cairo, Egypt), UNESCO Headquarters (Paris). They were winners of the Brazilian Music Pro Awards for Best Videoclip (2020) and Best Singer (2019). In 2023 they won First Place at the Gwangju Busking World Cup, a major international music competition in South Korea.

In 2017 they were the first Brazilian artists to set foot in Syria since the beginning of the conflict in the country, performing at the Damascus Opera House in an event promoted by the Brazilian Embassy.

They have collaborated with Orchestras from Brazil and abroad, as well as Brazilian Music icons such as Tom Zé and Guinga. Currently the duo is preparing a new show, in collaboration with Ensemble Oniros (Portugal), which consists of the premiere of works composed especially for the group by Fred and 5 other Portuguese composers.
