About Yoga & Rest, Day Retreat

Take a much-needed pause with us at the Octoberlily Wellness Yoga & Rest Day Retreat, led by Boitumelo Mnisi, a Counselling Therapist, and 300Hrs Yoga Teacher. The gathering takes place on the 27th of October 2024, at the ever-so tranquil Naledi Farm. As the year winds down, this day is all about slowing your pace, recharging your spirit, and soaking up some peaceful, restorative vibes. Think of it as a cozy reset button—mindfully curated to help you rest, reflect, and rejuvenate.

What to Expect

1. Restorative Yoga, Theme: Rest as Our Birthright.

Restorative Yoga is a gentle, therapeutic form of Yoga that focuses on deep relaxation and stress relief. It involves holding comfortable poses for longer periods, often with the support of props like bolsters, cushions, blankets, and blocks. This allows the body to fully relax and release tension, promoting a state of deep rest and healing. The Yoga session is suitable for all levels, welcoming beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

2. Sleep-In

This session is designed to allow your body and mind to fully absorb the calming effects of Yoga, creating an extended moment of stillness and relaxation. You'll be encouraged to lie down comfortably, supported by soft blankets and cushions, as gentle, soothing music or nature sounds play in the background. This quiet time offers an opportunity for a restful nap or simply to enjoy the peaceful sensation of being still, without the pressures of needing to do anything or be anywhere.

3. Tea Break

The Tea Break serves as a mindful interlude, bridging the restful stillness of the previous session with the activities to come. It's a perfect moment to ground yourself, reconnect with your surroundings, and prepare for the remainder of the day,

4. Poolside Conversations in Pairs: Reflecting on 2024.

Part 1, Theme: Harvesting Lessons and Gratitude:

  • What are three lessons you’ve learned this year?
  • What moments brought you joy or surprise?
  • How have you honored your needs and boundaries in 2024?
  • What are you most grateful for as this year comes to a close?

Requires active listening, allowing each person to share without interruption. Essentially holding space for each other's reflections with empathy and presence.

Part 2, Group Communion:

We will gather as a larger group to share insights from the paired conversations. This communion is not just about speaking, but also about listening deeply to others, honoring each person's journey and the collective wisdom within the group. An open and safe space for anyone who feels moved to share aloud.

5. Lunch

From "harvest to table", a nourishing meal will be served. Mindful eating, savoring each bite, and reflecting on the nourishment we receive from food is encouraged.

6. Solitude or Guided Farm Walkabout

  • Solitude Option: Bring a journal to reflect on your experience, jot down thoughts, or set intentions for the rest of 2024. You can also find a quiet spot under a tree, sun bathe, take a peaceful walk, or simply just be.

  • Walkabout Option: Join Ntate/Mme Maifadi on a guided farm tour as they share their inspiring journey into farm ownership. Discover ancient healing practices using local flora, the benefits of growing your own food, and hear the family stories that have anchored and motivated them along the way. This tour offers a blend of wisdom, heritage, and a deep connection to the land.

7. Closing Meditation, Theme: Gratitude and Closing

Come unwind in the gentle embrace of nature and community, and leave feeling refreshed, refueled, and ready to ease into the rest of your year.
