Beads and Beats

Sat Oct 12, 11:00 - Sat Oct 12, 16:00

David Krut Projects, The Blue House

ABOUT

This immersive and interactive workshop will explore the secret language of beads through the rich cultural tradition of Zulu love letter-making, known as Incwadi Yothando Ucu or Ubhala Abuise, which means "one writes in order that the other should reply." These intricate beaded panels played a vital role in ritual courtship, allowing young women to send secret messages of love to their suitors using colors and patterns understood only by them. In Part 1 of this workshop, participants will be introduced to the craft and process of making beaded love letters, offering a unique opportunity to begin creating your own personal love language.

This workshop will offer a unique opportunity to explore the choreography between sound and beading.

Engage your senses and creativity in a dynamic and supportive environment.
