Ground Culture Cafe was founded in 2020, in an attempt to bridge the gap between the formal and informal sectors. We wanted to create a space that is welcoming to everyone, regardless of demographics or culture. We believe that in order to solve South Africa’s problems, we need to come together and build a united “Grounded Culture”. We've hosted the likes of Barry Hilton, Riaad Moosa, Dillan Oliphant, Conrad Koch and various others. We now turn to music, where we seek to unlock the hidden talents of South Africa, starting off with the Johnny Wxlf Experience.

The Johnny Wxlf Experience is a dynamic 6-piece band featuring Luca Radulovic on drums, Avela Gwambeni on percussion, Adam Selikowitz on bass, Conor Hugo on guitar, and led by artist and producer Johnny Wxlf, whose acclaimed album Holy Water Blues has garnered widespread popularity. Their sound blends genres like jazz, Bossa Nova, Afrobeat, and blues, creating a fusion rooted in their Afrocentric identity. Their music reflects pan-African ideals and is deeply inspired by ancient African spirituality, drawing from ancestral wisdom and rituals. They've performed at notable venues across Cape Town, including Gorgeous George Hotel, The Commons, Armchair Theatre, Trenchtown Band Nights, and The Obscene Parrot, where their eclectic sound and spiritual energy resonate with diverse audiences.
