ABOUT
Odwa Bongo is a South African contemporary uHadi instrumentalist and vocalist. In 2012, the Drakensberg Boys Choir alumnus was chosen to be the Standard Bank Schools Big Band vocalist at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival. His talent and love for his culture scored him a feature on SABC’s Youth Culture documentary series. Bongo’s resilience lead him to collaborate with South Africa’s top artists including the late Dr. Madosini, Camagwini, Thandeka Mfinyongo, Morena Leraba & Koleka Putuma. Odwa Bongo’s music is influenced by Simphiwe Dana’s vocal style & raw traditional isiXhosa music. You can experience his sound from two of his tracks, Nomathemba & Qula Kwedini (available on all online music platforms)
