ABOUT
Background
In February 2025, INSPIRE is hosting its next Learning Event: INSPIREd Community Trusts: Building the Ecosystem for Community Ownership to Thrive.
Imagine a two-day event that combines safe spaces with courageous discussions;
- Where people feel able to share both their successes and struggles;
- An event that integrates multi-media approaches into how we tell the story of renewable energy, and the role of community trusts and community impact in fulfilling our vision, both globally and internationally;
- An event that commits to hearing the diversity of voices that make up our South African renewable energy landscape, while at the same time building capacity for how we learn from each other, strengthen our Trusts, and deliver impact;
- An event that commits to starting new conversations and relationships in support of a future we hope for.
Objectives
With Community Trusts as the focal point of this gathering, we aim to deliver on the following objectives:
- To strengthen the network and quality of relationships necessary for Community Trusts to thrive;
- To celebrate and learn from the key achievements and advancements made in community ownership and benefit sharing;
- To create a safe, robust, inclusive space for conversations around current challenges and opportunities within Community Trusts in renewable energy contexts;
- To facilitate the sharing of knowledge, tools, and insights gained through Community Trust implementation.
This event is a space to strengthen our approaches to community ownership and improve the quality of relationships necessary for Community Trusts to thrive. Whether you are a trustee, IPP representative, social performance/ economic development practitioner, or anyone involved in the REIPPPP landscape, this is your chance to be part of new conversations and solutions.
