Marlene Vlok – Piano Recital

The final concert of this year’s Welgemeend Concert Series features the young pianist Marlene Vlok. In a solo recital titled : One Instrument – Six Distinctive Voices she presents a selection of her favourite works by six composers from six different countries and musical cultures – Beethoven, Chopin, Scriabin, de Falla, Alberto Ginastera and Arnold van Wyk.

Each work has been selected to showcase certain aspect in which it represents the personal style of its composer. The compilation of the program attempts to underscore these particularities even further by throwing them into sharp relief. On the other hand, in the moderation on her interpretations, Ms Vlok’s will point to underlying traditions, influences and connections.
