Fishwives

ABOUT

Lizzie Gaisford (KZN) and Sarah Burger (GP/CT) are front-women and founding

members of twelve-year old, alt-folk/prog-rock band, Fishwives. The two initially found

common ground, as writers, in rich lyricism and, as guitarists, in highly intentional,

integral arrangements. Both elements will be strongly showcased at The Commons.

Burger, an artist and movie animator, processes personal experience and observation

through fantasy and the abstract. Gaisford, a botanist, writes distinctly South African

songs which document the here and now, and highlight the significance of small events

taken for granted.

Each will perform a solo set of both old favourites and select new songs, the latter

reflecting a distinct evolution in the craft.
