ABOUT

FREE DIVE FORAGE ADVENTURE

Saturday 8 February

10am - 4pm

Discover the rich offerings of the local coast line, learn how to sustainably harvest and incorporate the ocean ingredients of Cape Town into your cooking while enjoying a wildly delicious summertime adventure!

What to Expect:

Join the Veld and Sea team and immerse in the kelp forests to discover the magical underwater colours and flavours. Dive into the world of ocean ingredients, under the expert guidance of trained divers, foragers and chefs. In this half-day experience, we explore edible seaweeds and mollusks, understanding how to legally, responsibly and sustainably harvest and interact with these beautiful and bountiful underwater gardens, emphasising the importance of treating the ecosystem with care. You'll also learn how to prepare and preserve your foraged finds through talks and interactive cooking demonstrations over an open fire. The day will wrap up with a delicious lunch paired with botanical drinks, enjoyed in the Veld and Sea Glasshouse.

We'll start the day at the beach for our free-dive/snorkel session and begin with breathwork, stretching and an ocean safety talk, then dive in and discover how to identify and sustainably forage an array of underwater ingredients. After our underwater adventure, we'll drive about 15 minutes back to the Veld and Sea HQ near Cape Point, where you'll be welcomed with refreshment. Here, we'll delve deeper into the edible ocean ingredients, offering inspiration on how to incorporate these flavours, colours and textures into your cooking. The experience concludes with a multi-course coastal-inspired meal created by our chefs, featuring your foraged finds and seasonal ingredients from our gardens and local farms.
