ABOUT
Sm(art) City, founded in 2024 as an annual celebration of BCMM's designation as a Unesco Creative City and its entry into the Unesco Creative Cities Network, returns this year with a blast!
This year's day 2 of the programme which is preceded by a book launch, is headlined by South African showstopper, Mandisi Dyantyis and takes place on 21 March 2025, Human Right's Day at the Springbok Farmstall on Gonubie Main Road.Gates open at noon and first band performance starts promptly at 2pm and show ends at 21h00. Join us to celebrate this national Public holiday in style, beginning with a hike in the morning and a breakfast as well as a music picnic at noon that will feature amazing Eastern Cape artists/djs and even the legendary Bra Retsi Pule.
The gathering will be entertained with a high standard of quality performances ahead of Dyantyi's return to Buffalo City where he is so loved. Bring your camp chairs and blankets and get ready to have an amazing time under the blue skies. Cooler boxes will be allowed at a fee while a cash bar and stalls will be available with a vast menu of foods throughout the day. Crafts, books and visual arts will also be on sale in promotion of the best that the city and province have to offer. Springbok Farmstall is family friendly, has plenty of secure parking, is easily accessible, safe and secure to ensure a wonderful day and feast of culture. No weapons will be allowed.
A limited number of Early-bird tickets are available at R250 while normal ticket prices for the first phase are R350 on Quicket. A special ticket is also available for those interested in attending the hike, R250 includes a hike and breakfast at 6am.Follow our socials for further announcements and local artists to be featured on the lineup as well as Prof Mthunzi Mdwaba's book launch to be held on the eve of the concert.
