Sex & the Couple: The Pleasure Principle & Beyond

The Association of Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists invites you to attend an evening seminar with Dr Adrian Perkel. 

In this webinar, Dr Perkel will speak on working therapeutically with couples with sexual material, after providing a background on Freudian understanding of sexuality. Common sexual challenges such as erectile dysfunction in the early stages of intimacy, loss of desire in female partners after having a baby, and couples where partners want to change the nature of their sexual relationship after children have left home/post menopause will be covered. Theoretical and clinical implications will be discussed.

Dr Adrian Perkel, D.Phil, is a clinical psychologist in full-time private practice in Cape Town. He has worked with individual adults, couples, and families for over 35 years, specialising in couple therapy, and is involved in couple therapy training and supervision. He is a former senior lecturer in psychology and has numerous publications in various areas of psychology and relationship theory. He is a member of various professional bodies including the Association of Couple Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists (ACPP) and is on the International Advisory Board of the International Journal of Couple and Family Psychoanalysis.
