The Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO) proudly presents a captivating concert featuring world-class musicianship and an extraordinary program. Under the baton of conductor Daniel Boico, the evening will showcase the exceptional talents of Stas Venglevski, a Bayan (accordion) virtuoso selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2025.
This unforgettable performance will begin with Chabrier’s Habanera, a delightful and spirited work inspired by a trip to Spain that sets the tone for a vibrant musical journey. Venglevski will then take centre stage with the African Premiere of Alexey Shor’s Carpe Diem, a highly romantic composition evoking French Chanson, Argentinian Tangos and the Italian Tarantella.
After intermission Venglevski returns to the stage with his own Rondo-Fantasy, a dazzling display of creativity and technical brilliance that promises to leave the audience in awe. The concert concludes with Milhaud’s Le Boeuf sur le Toit, a playful and eclectic piece bursting with Parisian charm and Brazilian rhythms.
