ABOUT

ULUNATION is a collective-run event and Afro House / Tech experience. A home for friendship, afro electronic music and elated dance, presented by a community of dancers, DJs and afro electronic enthusiasts.

What we're about:

Inspired by DESCENDANTS.REC, the fastest growing Afro Electronic experience based in New York, ULUNATION explores and creates beautiful gathering spaces for Cape Town’s dance community and afro-electronic artists.

To ululate means: “a sound resembling a howl, frequently used to express strong emotions like grief, joy, or celebration” and nation meaning to us “a body of people united by common values and culture.” In other words, ULUNATION is a united group of people who come together to express joy, grief and everything in between with elated dance and afro electronic music.

Our symbol is inspired by the murmuration (a large group of birds, usually starlings, that all fly together and change direction together), which speaks to our core values of Celebration, Care and Collaboration as an event collective.
