ABOUT

An adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale about a tiny girl who has many adventures. It tells the story of Thumbelina's struggle and how she overcomes them to find love and happiness. Born in a flower to a woman yearning for a child, Thumbelina's life is turned upside down when she is carried off by a toad who wants her to be a bride for her son. With the help of some friends, she manages to escape but soon find herself in the clutches of a beetle and then battling the elements as winter sets in. Thumbelina is rescued from the cold by a field mouse, who, at the end of winter suggests she marry her neighbour Mr Mole, a prospect which leaves the little heroine in despair. At the last minute , however, she manages to escape the situation by fleeing to a far land with a swallow she nursed back to health.
