MUSHROOM FORAGING FORAY

Join us for an exciting morning of mushroom hunting led by avid forager and author Justin Williams, as we delve into the forest and green belts to learn all about the wild and wonderful world of mushrooms!


Hailing from the city's southern peninsula suburb of Noordhoek, Justin grew up spending time hiking on the mountainous trails and foraging along the coastlines around his home town. Having access to these spaces with a curiosity for nature, he developed a keen interest in foraging, mycology and ethnobotany, over time acquiring knowledge that has since earned him the reputation in Cape Town as an expert on edible fungi and medicinal herbs.


WHAT TO EXPECT:

You will be guided through the forest or green belt on a gentle walk, learning about edible, poisonous and medicinal fungi. Justin's extensive knowledge of cooking techniques and fungi's role within the ecosystem, along with stories from many years of adventures, will reveal a new and fascinating world to explore. After the walk and talk, having hopefully gathered some edible wild mushrooms, you'll end the morning off with delicious mushroom-infused, wild-flavour rusks and foraged herbal tea.

A basket to gather mushrooms

Pocket/pen knife

Raincoat (if rain is forecast)

PLEASE NOTE:

Mushroom foraging is unpredictable, can be abundant or fickle and is very weather-dependent. We could come upon a glut of wild mushrooms for everyone to collect or just happen upon two for toast. Rest assured, you will walk away with a bounty of newfound knowledge after this immersive experience.


**NB: We can only anticipate when the mushroom foraging season will begin, but we may have to postpone forages depending on when the rain arrives for the season. Please keep this in mind when purchasing your tickets. In the case that we do need to postpone an event and you cannot make the new date, you will be able to choose another date in the calendar or receive a full refund.

50% cancellation fee.

Tickets are non-transferable to other event dates and non-refundable 72 hours before the event.
