The Glasshouse – Veld and Sea, Cape Point

Join us for a delicious and insightful afternoon, officially opening up the autumn forest foraging season with Veld and Sea. Seasonal-inspired canapés and medicinal mushroom tincture cocktails will be served around the fire, and Justin Williams will be sharing tales and science, magic and medicine, leading us on a storytelling path of how weird, wild and wonderful mushrooms really are! Bring all your friends, fungi questions and any mushroom photos for ID. 

Originally hailing from Noordhoek, Justin Williams began his foraging journey under the pines in the 90’s at the old Tokai Forest. He is the author of Mushroom Hunting in South Africa (Briza Publications) and cites Edith Stephens as his mycological hero. Over time, Justin has worked with researchers to describe several new species of endemic fungi that were previously unknown to science, and, over the past decade, has trekked throughout most of South Africa searching for the tastiest mushrooms whilst making international appearances on The Food Network and CNN, featuring in print in Taste Magazine, Go! and Natural Medicine. Justin first joined Veld and Sea in 2016 and is excited to be teaching an objective approach to fungi and to share his love for cooking with them.
