Kintsugi with Liz - Repair broken ceramics with gold Sun 6 April in Hout Bay, CT (AIRBNB RECORDED EVENT!)
Sun Apr 27, 09:30 - Sun Apr 27, 14:00
Yescas Teahouse
ABOUT
Join me for a morning of mindfulness with intention on Sunday 6 April for an introduction into the Japanese Art of Kintsugi. This centuries old art form is filled with many philosophical lessons and can be viewed as a metaphor for healing ourselves by embracing our own flaws and imperfections.
Traditional Kintsugi can take months to complete. In this 4.5 hour special workshop I’ll share my contemporary methods to practice and apply on any ceramics that need to be mended to allow you to repair and restore into something unique and resilient rather than dispose of.
This Culture cuisine experience includes our famous Dimsum brunch: handmade, preservative and MSG free dumplings, baozi, Springrolls and won ton). We are fully licensed and you can enjoy mimosas, artisan beers, SA wines, Chinese beers, sake and soju too!
Booking essential as space is limited. Quicket, DM/WhatsApp me to secure your seat.
What to expect:
A morning of mindfulness at our Traditional Teahouse to learn the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi and to apply this to a ceramic of your own that needs to be repaired.
What to bring:
A ceramic of your own like a vase/pot plant holder/bowl etc that is either broken in half or with 2 - 4 pieces broken off. You can also bring a ceramic that isn’t broken and I’ll teach you how to break it! Please note the technique I will share uses gold leaf / gold powder that is not food grade safe.
If you don’t have a ceramic to use - you’re welcome to purchase a ceramic from our extensive collection!
