Explore the rich history of Anglo-Boer War Battles and British Blockhouses in The Cradle, only 40 minutes from the heart of Sandton.
We invite you to our official opening of the new Block House Museum built on the site of the Battle of Kalkhuewel (3rd June 1900) and featuring an irreplaceable 125 year old fully intact Rice Pattern Block House of international interest on the Mule Trail which supplied the Blockhouses on the Kalkhuewel Ridge in
Broederstroom.
The Esteemed Professor Kathy Munro, one of the doyennes of Johannesburg Heritage and Chair of HASA (Heritage Association of South Africa) will be opening The Block House Museum on Saturday 7th June 2025 at 11:30am.
Offering a immersive experience of the past, you are also invited to venture on a 5km circular hike along the Mule Trail built by the British in 1899 to supply their Block Houses on the ridge.
The R150 ticket includes cocktail snacks and drinks, as well as access to the Mule Trail Hike. All proceeds will be donated to Johannesburg Heritage Foundation.
