ABOUT
Join Kennedy Tembo of MicroAdventure Tours for a guided walk around the beautiful and historic Delta Park during Joburg's annual cosmos season, to celebrate these pink and white blooms.
One of the biggest green lungs in the city, Delta Park is bordered by the suburbs of Blairgowrie, Victory Park, and Craighall Park. It offers large stretches of grassland, woodland, and wetland dams, a sensory trail for the sight-impaired, and even bird-viewing hides. An entire circular walk around this park is a good 5km trek with plenty of places to stop and admire the great views of the Joburg skyline. In the western side of the park is the Delta Environmental Centre; a perfectly preserved three-storey Art Deco building that was originally built as part of a sewage works plant, which closed in 1963.

Meeting point: Start with a coffee (one per ticket holder) from Motherland Coffee at 76 Hillcrest Ave, Blairgowrie, opposite the Delta Central centre. There is free guarded parking below Fresh Earth.
Bring/wear: Water and snacks, comfortable shoes, sun protection, camera.
After the guided tour we recommend lunch at the nearby Delta Cafe, which looks onto the park at the REEA Foundation Urban Farm (on Marlborough Avenue), or you can explore the many restaurants and shops at Delta Central in Blairgowrie - from Coalition Pizza to Chopstix.
*Space on this walk is limited to 30 people (paid ticket holders). Children under 12 may attend for free.
