ABOUT
Join writer and photographer Heather Mason aka @2Summers for a photo walk around Delta Park to capture the beauty of Joburg's annual cosmos season, while these fleeting pink and white flowers are in bloom. Mason will share tips for shooting portraits among the cosmos flowers.
One of the biggest green lungs in the city, Delta Park is bordered by the suburbs of Blairgowrie, Victory Park, and Craighall Park. It offers large stretches of grassland, woodland, and wetland dams, a sensory trail for the sight-impaired, and even bird-viewing hides. An entire circular walk around this park is a good 5km trek with plenty of places to stop and admire the great views of the Joburg skyline. In the western side of the park is the Delta Environmental Centre; a perfectly preserved three-storey Art Deco building that was originally built as part of a sewage works plant, which closed in 1963.

Time: 15:30 for 16:00 - 18:00
Start and end points: The parking lot below Fresh Earth (please bring some cash to tip the guard). We'll end off with a complimentary glass of beer or Sauvignon Blanc (one per ticket holder) at Mad Giant Taproom in Blairgowrie.
Bring/wear: Water and snacks, comfortable shoes, sun protection, camera.
After the walk we recommend dinner at the nearby Delta Cafe, which looks onto the park at the REEA Foundation Urban Farm (on Marlborough Avenue), or you can explore the many restaurants and shops at Delta Central in Blairgowrie - from Coalition Pizza to Chopstix.
*Space on this walk is limited to 30 people (paid ticket holders). Children under 12 may attend for free.
