The KZN Youth Orchestra will be performing on Sunday, 27 April, 11h00 to 12h00 in The Bull Ring on Netherwood Farm in Nottingham Road.
The KZNYO is a group of around 60 talented young musicians from KZN, between the ages of 10 and 20, with one thing in common - they love to make music!
Over the past 10 years they have toured to the Stellenbosch Chamber Festival, Germany, several times to the National Arts Festival, the Hilton Arts Festival and the Music in the Mountains Festival where they performed with the Drakensberg Boys Choir. They tour up and down the KZN coast often, perform regularly at various schools and retirement complexes and have also taken the stage at the Royal show and the Botanical Gardens.
This talented ensemble of young musicians are something to behold! Many great local musicians have passed through the KZNYO doors and continue to make their mark in the music industry.
On show in The Bull Ring will be a delightfully diverse repertoire of orchestral music that spans Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods, along with selections from musicals and contemporary popular music.
Highlights of the program include: Schubert's Symphony No. 8, Korsakov's Scheherazade, Monti's Czardas, a Johnny Clegg classic and the thrilling theme from Mission Impossible.
Tickets are R100 per person.
Conducted by Lyk Temmingh and presented by Cathy Peacock the concert will send you off with lingering melodies in your heart.
