The Future of Creative Innovation and Technology.  

For the first time in 2017, Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival includes the Fak’ugesi Conference in its annual program. A one day event with a mission to highlight important questions on the role of creativity and technology in Africa.

The 2017 Fak’ugesi Conference focus is on importance of collaborative practices. The panels and speakers will engage questions concerning inter and multidisciplinary practices, that support the growth of creativity, technology and innovation in a collaborative manner.

The conference will be made up of experts in various fields related to creativity, technology and innovation and will present through panel conversations and keynote speakers.

Our two Keynote talks will be presented by: 

William Kentridge
Draftsman, performer and filmmaker, best known for his animated drawings, William Kentridge (b. April 28 1955, Johannesburg) who is to date arguably South Africa’s most well-established fine artists, has enjoyed a central focus in his work of how apartheid values touched and bruised the lives of ordinary South Africans. Kentridge gained international acclaim for his short film series 9 Drawings for Projection (1989–2003). His works are owned by institutions all over the world and he’s hosted numerous solo exhibitions at museums such as New York’s Museum of Modern Art; Vienna’s Albertina Museum; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Jepchumba
Kenyan born, Jepchumba is the founder and creative director of African Digital Art (www.africandigitalart.com). She is a cultural ambassador who travels the world sharing her views on African art and technology. She was listed as one of the 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa 2012 by Forbes, as well as Africa’s Top 25 Women Achievers by the Guardian.
