Get inspired by local entrepreneurs!
Fuckup Nights is a global movement born in Mexico in 2012 to share business failure stories. Hundreds of people attend each event to hear three to four entrepreneurs share their failures. Each speaker is given 7 minutes and is able to use 10 images. After each speaker, there’s a Q&A session, after that, we drink beer!
Doors open at 18h00 and the event STARTS at 18h30... SHARP.
The first announced speakers:
Keet van Zyl
Keet is a Venture Catalyst with extensive growth equity investment experience. He is a founding partner of Knife Capital- a leading venture captial firm with offices in Cape Town and London. Before this he structured various private equity funds in Southern Africa for a US fund-of funds investor and worked at industry- leading companies such as Procter & Gamble, Investec Bank and 'Here be Dragons' (HBD) Venture Capital. Keet is on the board of the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA).
Katlego Maphai
Katlego is the co-founder and CEO of Yoco, a South African point of sale payments venture on a mission to amplify small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Africa using smart technology. Yoco offers card payment acceptance, point-of-sale software and capital. He drives the company’s expansion/market development, customer experience and organisational development elements.
Taryn Springhall
Taryn is co-owner and Strategic Director at Evolve Integrated Marketing. She’s been consulting and leading creative and business development strategies for established companies and start-ups across nine countries, fuelled by her passion to help build successful businesses. In 2014, she combined her background in journalism, PR and marketing to co-found eHealthNews, a news site dedicated to the use of technology to deliver healthcare in SA. She’s also a fallen away yogi, selectively competitive mom and keen traveller.
