Impact!Africa Social Entrepreneurship Summit

To accelerate innovative solutions to Africa's most pressing challenges by inspiring, supporting and connecting leading social entrepreneurs and key ecosystem players across countries, organisations and sectors - such as policy, social investment, business and education.

British Council South Africa and Ashoka have united to co-host the Impact!Africa: Social Entrepreneurship Summit, from 20 to 22 June 2018 at Riversands Incubation Hub in Johannesburg. Expect vibrant key-note addresses, panel discussions, inspiring talks, innovation labs, capacity-building sessions and networking sessions. The summit will enable over 300 aspiring and active changemakers to explore opportunities and strategies to build sustainable economies, and address the continent's biggest and most pressing challenges. An active communication campaign will amplify the content beyond the Summit audience.

Over the three days, the agenda aims to inspire, inform and equip all participants to maximise their impact for Africa, advancing economic and social change through:

Education | Youth and employability | Agriculture and nutrition | Healthcare | Women empowerment

Environment and climate change | Creative industries | Digital innovation

High-calibre keynote speakers and ground-breaking social entrepreneurs from across Africa will lead the content delivery.

A pre-marketing campaign (largely word-of-mouth and online) will be undertaken to build interest and drive delegate registrations. During the event, digital and traditional media, influencers, as well as Summit participants, will be leveraged extensively to amplify the learnings far beyond the venue’s audience, sharing powerful stories of change.

British Council: The British Council was founded in 1940 to create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and the wider world. Across Africa, the British Council creates opportunity, especially for young people to fulfil their potential by improving their employability, resilience and networks. Part of this is delivered through the British Council’s Global Social Enterprise programme which enables social enterprise as a route to positive social change, inclusive growth and sustainable development while also sharing learning and building trust between the UK and other countries.

Ashoka: Ashoka is the largest global network of social entrepreneurs with system-changing solutions, focussing on creating an “Everyone is a changemaker” world. Ashoka has had a presence in Africa since 1990 and elected over 500 Ashoka Fellows in 20 countries who have been innovating alongside youth and changemakers from the corporate, investment, media and policy spaces. Ashoka is spotting patterns and trends in social innovation and facilitate the emergence of collaborative models that can address the most critical societal challenges at scale.
