PRESENTS
Ticon & Friends
Following our epic Real Rave experiences in 2018, where we blew the roof off with John 00 Fleming, Dave Seaman, Alexey Sonar and a host of Cape Town's best local Electronic Music Artists, we are going full tilt and underground with a powerhouse lineup in a secret vault on April 6th, 2019.
Prepare for blast off as we take you on a full journey from progressive tech, into trance:
20:00 to 22:00 Artelligent (Headroom's ProgTech project)
22:00 to 00:00 Dave Mac
00:00 to 02:00 Ticon
02:00 to 04:00 Shadow Chronicles (Protoculture)
ARTELLIGENT
Artelligent is Adam Metcalfe, better known as the mastermind behind the globe trotting psytrance project "HEADROOM".
No stranger to commanding the attention of massive dancefloors, Adam has regularly featured on festivals and parties worldwide in as diverse locations as Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Germany, USA and his home country of South Africa - proving that he has what it takes to be a true international music star.
Looking to expand is expression, he has delved into the realms of all things techy and underground, showcasing a well tuned blend of hypnotic progressive tech.
With 16 years of DJ experience behind him, each set promises to leave you craving more and we are pleased that he's accepted a place in this lineup.
DAVE MAC
Dave Mac has been rocking psytrance dance floors for 20 years, having played an important role in influencing and developing the South African psychedelic scene.
Having deejayed every imaginable timeslot from opening to closing and everything in between, Dave’s vast experience in psychedelic culture guarantees you a journey of self-expression.
His involvement in psytrance and dance music culture stretches across many different areas from partnering in South Africa’s premier production team – Alien Safari in the early 2000’s, to owning South Africa’s No.1 dance music publication, BPM Magazine, for 10 years.
Today Dave Mac continues to perform at every major festival in South Africa, runs SA’s premier online music publication portal, IDM Mag, and remains 100% invested in the local and global psytrance movement.
In 2018, Dave played at Boom festival in Portugal.
He's an epic geezer who knows exactly how Goldswindler operates. And it's only fitting that he bridges the gap between Artelligent, and lays it up for Ticon.
TICON
With a deep background in the techno scene Ticon started playing around on their computer in 1995 and this step brought them along many paths they hadn't dreamed of.
The experience acquired along the way has switched the scene from the amateur thing of the beginning to the standard of today; an acclaimed production with an exquisite feeling for sounds and percussion.
The project Ticon was started in 1999 as a natural progression towards something new and they soon got the attention deserved.
Their unique style walks the thin line between progressive house and trance with crossover excursions on both sides. This gives their music a variation from the floor-filling to the hip-swinging funky but they all emit the Ticon sound and the message to be happy and to be loosing it to the music.
These guys are in our opinion, about as good as it gets.
SHADOW CHRONICLES
No stranger to the psytrance scene, Nate Raubenheimer AKA Protoculture and more recently under his new moniker, Shadow Chronicles shot to fame in 2003 with his smash hit album, ‘Refractions’.
He is one of South Africa’s top musical exports and one of the psy trance greats.
With an ever changing music scene, Nate returned to producing Psytrance after a 7 year sabbatical under the guise of Shadow Chronicles, wanting to return to his roots in the underground culture he grew up with, bringing his signature melodic psychedelic sound back to the forefront of the psytrance scene.
In 2017 he road tested his new project closing after Haldolium in Goldswindler's Inflatable Church, hidden away in a forest, saw the release of a slew of singles on Iboga and Future Music records including the massive ‘g.AI.a’, ‘Love & Light’ and ‘Another Earth’.
He followed as closing act when we brought John 00 Fleming in 2018, and we asked him if he'd like to close after Ticon.
With a very busy schedule, we're pleased he accepted.
