Startupbootcamp AfriTech (SBC) is sponsored by some of the most innovative corporate partners in Africa and the accelerator programme has proven to be a successful channel to scout, skill, and scale disruptive startups. We are now applying this powerful Corporate Startup Collaboration approach to solve municipal challenges that affect us all. Using Cape Town as a lab, we have chosen 3 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals as themes for an impact-orientated Hackathon.
- SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation
- SDG 11: Life Below Water
- SDG 14: Sustainable Cities & Communities
This Hackathon will bring together innovators and corporates to materialise three of the sustainable development goals and we are excited to be setting the standard for sustainable innovation in corporates and the broader innovation ecosystem. The hackathon will feature several top-level keynote speakers discussing the daunting challenges brought about by pollution, water access and urbanization. The event is open to citizen innovators, startups and anyone with ideas to solving the most pressing sustainable development challenges facing our world today
Sponsored by Old Mutual, Nedbank, BNP Paribas, and PWC, and generously hosted by RCS, the event will promote thought leaders for the daunting challenges brought about through pollution, water access, and urbanization. The hackathon is open to citizen innovators who will form ad-hoc teams and crowdsource solutions, talent, and business models from the Cape Town innovation and resilience enablement ecosystem.
Over the course of 2 full days, the goal is for 5-10 teams to form tackling different challenges. These teams will focus on practical solutions that could be further developed and implemented with the support of the sponsors and their partners.
