Jazz for Curious Minds

8pm. Reeler Theatre, Rondebosch Boys' High School, Canigou Avenue, Rondebosch

The evening features an exciting line-up of South African and International jazz musicians.

The first half of the evening features the Jazz Duo of McCoy Mrubata (saxophones) and Paul Hanmer (piano) who are celebrating 30 plus years of jazz and friendship. Both are originally from Cape Town - so it is great to have them perform again on home soil.

McCoy and Paul's CDs will be on sale - cash only.

The second half of the evening we will feature Italian saxophonist/composer/educator Emanuele Cisi. We are thrilled to be able to feature such a fabulous musician in Cape Town. Besides teaching at the Conservatories in Turin and Perugia, Emanuele is in great demand all over Europe and comes to us fresh from a month long tour of Russia. This is Emanuele's first trip to South Africa and was made possible by a supporting grant from the Italian Institute for Culture in Pretoria. Emanuele recently released his album NO EYES - Looking at Lester Young. The quartet will perform some tunes from this CD, as well as other standards and originals.

Emanuele's CDs will be on sale - cash only.

The Emanuele Cisi Quartet consists of Emanuele Cisi (saxophones) and a stunning local rhythm section made up of Dave Ledbetter (piano/guitar), Hein van de Gyn (bass) and Jonno Sweetman (drums).
